If you already have your own works and only need firing, in our studio you can rent the entire kiln and be assured that the process will be carried out professionally and with care. This service is intended for ceramicists, artists, designers, or enthusiasts who want reliable firing in controlled conditions.
In Belgrade, we use a kiln with a square base, inner dimensions 56 × 56 cm and 60 cm in height, while in Novi Sad we have an octagonal kiln with a maximum diameter of 47 cm and 60 cm in height. When planning, keep in mind that part of the height is taken up by shelves, so the usable volume is slightly smaller. The working temperature of both kilns is up to 1250°C, which allows for a wide range of processing and finishing techniques. It is also important to note that during bisque firing approximately twice as many pieces can fit compared to glaze firing, since in the bisque stage items can touch and be nested, which is not possible with glaze firing.
To ensure safety and successful firing, certain rules must be followed. We fire only clay works and approved ceramic decorations, while organic materials, glass, metal, or other additives that could damage the kiln or pieces are not permitted. Works must be carefully packed in boxes or crates so they can be safely transported and repacked after firing. For each firing, it is necessary to provide a specification of the materials used, with clearly stated firing temperature ranges. We reserve the right to exclude any pieces that appear technically unsound or pose a risk to the kiln or other works.
Each firing cycle follows a defined technology and is carried out gradually, step by step. The temperature is slowly increased to ensure even firing, and after the cycle is complete, the kiln is cooled naturally, which can take up to 24 hours. It is important to emphasize that the kiln is never opened prematurely, as this can endanger both the works and the equipment. Taking into account all phases – preparation, firing, and controlled cooling – the entire process usually lasts about three working days, ensuring everything is done carefully and in accordance with technological standards. Our goal is to treat your works with the same care as our own, ensuring safe and reliable results.
Although we strive for every process to run smoothly, it is important to note that any damage caused by technically poorly prepared works is the responsibility of the client. For example, if clay intended for low temperatures is submitted for high firing, it may melt or deform, potentially damaging both the kiln and other works. Similarly, improperly chosen glazes may run and stick to shelves or other pieces. This is why it is essential to provide accurate information about the materials and their firing ranges, and our team is always available to advise and check before the firing process.
